Sweet and Sour Quorn Pieces

A classic Cantonese dish that is the ideal combination of crispy Quorn Pieces coated in a flavouful sweet and sour sauce. Serve this with a mixture of cucumber, pineapple and tomato for a speedy and healthy dinner for your family!

Ingredients

  • 300g Quorn Pieces
  • 80g Caster sugar
  • 60g Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  • 60 ml Rice wine vinegar
  • 100 ml Water
  • 2 tsp Cooking oil
  • 100g Red Onion, diced
  • 100g Fresh or canned Pineapple, diced
  • 100g Courgette, deseeded and diced
  • 100g Tomato, diced
  • 100g Red Onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp Cornflour Solution (1:1 solution of cornflour and water)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds, to Garnish

Method

  1. In a bowl, combine caster sugar, brown sugar, salt, tomato ketchup, rice wine vinegar and water. Mix well until sugar dissolves. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a wok, on medium heat, and stir-fry red onion for 2 minutes.
  3. Add Quorn Pieces and stir-fry for a further 5 minutes.
  4. Add pineapple, courgette and tomato and stir-fry for another 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the sauce and stir. Add corn starch solution and stir well. Simmer for 2 minutes, or until sauce is thickened.
  6. Serve over rice or stirred with cooked noodles.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds.
